Impact of Out-of-Class Assignments on the Learning of Undergraduate Nursing Students

Abstract

This research was developed with the aim of identifying the impact of out-of-class assignments on the learning of Nursing undergraduate students, since it has been appreciated that this element is important for learning and growth as a person and future professional, as students must participate and coexist with other classmates when doing teamwork, thus awakening the creativity and imagination of each of its members.

The study sought to know in advance the types of bibliographic works that they perform during the three study periods in each semester, but also how many bibliographic works are planned by teachers for each subject due to the study modality in the nursing school belonging to the Faculty of Health Sciences at Universidad Católica de El Salvador. Out-of-class assignments are widely used as research methods. A good university teacher should be clear about the different teaching-learning techniques and the number of them to be developed in a subject to achieve its objectives.

However, it is important to determine the level of learning that students obtain as a result of out-of-class assignments, as well as the methods under which the professor monitors the development of such works, being the one who plays a very important role in encouraging and motivating students to develop the habit of reading and self-learning.
