The non-experimental study with qualitative-quantitative transversal approach, searched to correlate the presence of Helicobacter pylori in patients with gastroduodenal pathology diagnosis who consult in First Aid Clinic of Universidad Católica de El Salvador. The research involved forty patients including students, teachers and service staff with gastroduodenal pathology suspicion who consulted the clinic in the period from January to June 2014. They all underwent an interview and were taken blood sample which was applied to the cassette to take a quick laboratory test to detect Helicobacter pylori. If the test outcomes were positive, patients would be sent to take an endoscopy and a biopsy.
From all the participants, five of them got positive rapid test lab. They were sent to take a digestive endoscopy and a biopsy. The most frequent endoscopic findings were: moderate diffuse gastritis, erosive gastritis and Bulboduodenitis. From the histological
findings, the most common diagnoses were chronic and erosive gastritis; obtaining one negative result to Giemsa staining.
Finally, 12.5% of patients resulted positive to the bacteria, whereas the diagnosis of gastroduodenal pathology was not so high (9%), so the presence of the bacterium in such people is low.
