Incidence of intestinal parasitism in nursing students at the Multidisciplinary Faculty of Ilobasco, Catholic University of El Salvador

Abstract

It was investigated the incidence rate of intestinal parasites, in the freshmen students in the majors or BA and Technician in Nursing. Also, adequate methods and strategies were performed in order to foster hygiene habits, as well as an adequate on time treatment in the students.

It was determined the infestation rate in the freshmen students during the academic year in the Nursing major, taking into account the tests administered when they enrolled the university. This data allowed having real and concrete data of the students that presented intestinal parasitism.

For the cases they were found, there was a diagnostic, treatment and healing process. In order to control the students’ health care, it was proceed to give them a follow up and verification stage through a second lab test.

It was proved the relationship between hygiene and cultural habits with the contamination of intestinal parasites that have incidence in the students’ health.
