Abstract

It was carried out a random check in the local market of the metropolitan area in Santa Ana, El Salvador, the business practices that impact the energetic efficiency, specifically in the management of the cold chain in the business distribution of termo-sensible food products. This means they are sensible to the temperature and they need special refrigeration conditions so their 
quality will not be affected.

In the food products area of massive consumption, there are many elements that generate costs like the transportation, storage and handling that generate costs in the operation of Business Distribution. Therefore, it is very important to look how to reach better levels of energetic efficiency using processes and logistic methods that may not be only cheaper but only friendlier to the environment.

Because the diversity of termo-sensible food products is wide, the research focused on identifying good practices of energetic efficiency in the logistic chain of business distribution of dairy products. Also, the importance of this kind of economic activity in Santa Ana and the country is relevant.
