Study Techniques and Habits Used by First-Year Students of the Bachelor of Science in Education, Specialization in English Language, at the Catholic University of El Salvador, Multidisciplinary Faculty of Ilobasco, during the first semester of 2015

Abstract

Teaching-learning process is a procedure that requires teacher planning in order to teach as well as student planning focusing on how to properly study. This research sought to determine which the techniques and study habits of freshmen of the major Bachelor in education specialization in English of Catholic University of El Salvador, Multidisciplinary Faculty of Ilobasco, during semester I – 2015 are.

For the study, there was used as technique the written interview that allowed gathering information from students` point of view. Also there was used the focus group and class observation, getting a greater approach to the students in order to determine, lastly, the application of techniques and study habits.

The results show that the 48.5% of students have a specific place where they can study appropriately, and that the 73% of the students use the technique of underlining as a tool of learning.
