Cloud-Based and On-Premise Open-Source Enterprise Information Systems for SMEs in El Salvador

In this article, there are presented the outcomes of the investigation about systems business information. Mainly the enterprise resourcing planning (ERP), and the customer relationship management (CRM), are used in small and medium enterprises as a technological strategy to enhance their production.
The study was descriptive documentary in which it was gathered from previous investigations and governmental reports related to the adoption of systems business information on behalf of small and medium enterprises (PYMES) in different countries around the world.
The study is limited to the adoption of these systems in the cloud and the enterprise information systems local installation of open source. Generally, it described the level of use and rate of adoption in the cloud in relation to these systems. Based on search trends, unofficial reviews and downloads as well, the Business Information Systems of open source are described as the most popular. On the other hand, due to the lack of studies that describe the level of use of the systems business enterprises from the Salvadoran PYMES based on the utilization rates in other countries, they are presented with the benefits that are able to obtain in the Salvadoran PYMES with the adoption of these systems.
