The field of computer science, due to its constantly changing nature, greatly enables the timely implementation of new teaching strategies; therefore, educational practice should continuously improve by implementing new strategies, methodologies, and techniques. This action research study presents the results of implementing a project-oriented learning strategy using the blended learning (B-Learning) methodology within the Programming II course taught in semester I-2015.
During the process, two action cycles were applied, starting with the implementation of the B-Learning methodology and later the project-based assessment. For both stages, the Moodle platform supporting the university’s virtual classrooms was used.
A final reflection is made on the need to improve feedback on developed topics and evaluations. However, students reported having acquired more knowledge using this strategy and methodology compared to traditional lecture-based classes used in other subjects.
