Abstract

This research analyzed the assessment of learning in blended-learning programs at the Catholic University of El Salvador. It investigated virtual learning environments as an assessment resource, based on the evaluation of information obtained from different sources, and their impact on the teaching-learning process. In addition, teachers’ prior knowledge about the use of virtual learning environments as an assessment tool was determined, and teachers’ attitudes toward these environments as an evaluative resource were also identified.

After examining teachers’ assessment practices in relation to the competencies involved in working with virtual learning environments, recommendations were provided to the university, to teachers of blended programs, and to students in order to develop better pedagogical practices on the Moodle platform.
