Abstract

This document gathers the research data about how the motivation theory proposed by the psychologist Frederick Herzberg is being applied in Santa Ana’s enterprises. This theory describes the way businessmen and/or CEOs motivate their collaborators so that the enterprise’s goals are achieved effectively on behalf of the institution.

195 collaborators (employees, wage-earners, workers, laborers, and others) filled out the survey in order to determine what motivates them to perform the tasks assigned. This allowed to know how the hygiene and maintenance elements have an influence on the working conditions, and this is what makes employees work for the institution for more than 5 years.

In regards to the motivating and satisfying factor that make workers feel comfortable, this research showed that they look for an interesting job and the achievement of goals; this coincides with Herzberg’s theory on this topic.

It should be emphasized that, within Helzberg’s original study, the salary is considered as a maintenance factor only, whereas the results of this research, which was carried out in Santa Ana enterprises, showed that salary is indeed considered as a motivating factor.
