Environmental Education as a Tool for the Management of Local Development in the City of Santa Ana

The implementation of environmental education as a tool for the management of local development in the city of Santa Ana was analyzed. For this purpose, interviews were conducted with different local stakeholders related to the topic. In addition, the role of local actors and the types of educational actions implemented in the city were examined.
The research findings revealed that there is only one Non-Governmental Organization exclusively dedicated to promoting environmental education; however, other institutions in the city also carry out campaigns in favor of environmental protection.
It is necessary for Santa Ana to prioritize environmental education aimed at all citizens in order to foster local development, sustainable development, and prevent many environmental problems that affect the population's quality of life.
