Abstract

Generating new businesses in a country where the economy is unable to provide employment opportunities for everyone becomes essential, as does supporting all efforts aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship and strengthening the country’s economic and social fabric.

Higher education institutions are not exempt from this challenge. Over time, individuals seeking higher education may ask themselves: why study if there are no employment opportunities? Therefore, the actions undertaken by universities can contribute to the creation of new businesses capable of meeting future consumer needs. This study examined the efforts made by universities in the country and, particularly, the level of satisfaction among students from universities in the city of Santa Ana regarding the transmission of knowledge and the promotion of entrepreneurial initiatives.

Universities recognize the importance of entrepreneurship and carry out various activities to support it. Among these activities are the establishment of support centers to guide new business ideas or advise existing ventures. Another common practice is the organization of small fairs within certain courses, where students present their business ideas, most of which are small commercial enterprises. However, universities generally lack a systematic program integrated throughout the entire academic curriculum and sustained over the long term with a stronger impact on fostering entrepreneurship.
