Social Inclusion Processes: Emerging Discourses and Representations in Intervention Programs for Vulnerable People

Abstract

This study analyzes the discourses of social actors involved in programs aimed at the social inclusion of vulnerable individuals, including current and former users of cocaine base paste (“paco”), at the Neighborhood Center “El Hogar de Cristo” in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Based on data collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation, the analysis reveals significant social constructions and social representations that participants consider essential for achieving social reintegration goals. The findings highlight intervention actions as broad teaching-learning processes and emphasize the particular organization of work groups, allowing for a relative generalization of these experiences among vulnerable populations.
