To contribute to the exercise of children's right to health during early childhood, it is necessary that, during the neonatal period, a series of care practices aimed at maintaining health and promoting the proper development of the newborn be implemented.
The newborn is a vulnerable human being due to the immaturity that many of its organs and systems still present. As a result, symptoms often appear in a subtle and atypical manner compared to those observed in older children. Therefore, it is essential that caregivers of newborns recognize the signs and symptoms that may represent a significant health risk.
It is important for first-time pregnant women to identify promptly the warning signs that may appear in their newborn children, as this will enable effective and efficient care. In addition, seeking timely medical attention at a healthcare facility can minimize harm to the newborn's health and consequently reduce infant morbidity and mortality rates among children under 28 days of age.
