Application of Techniques to Satisfy User Hygiene Needs by Nursing Degree Students in Social Service from January to June 2017

Abstract

The nursing profession seeks training based on a competency-based profile that enables future professionals to perform in different settings and levels of care in order to provide quality care. For this reason, nursing practice is broad and applicable in different areas, including direct care, where competencies oriented toward nursing care are applied in relation to the interaction with individuals, families, and the community.

When working in direct care, it is recognized that hospitalized patients lose autonomy and independence from the moment they are admitted, as they face unfamiliar and stressful situations; especially when their condition prevents them from independently carrying out activities to meet their physiological needs. This is a key moment where nursing staff must provide comprehensive care, applying the basic principles that guide nursing practice through different techniques, satisfying all patient needs, especially hygiene needs.
