Clinical Simulation in the Training of Nursing Students at the Catholic University of El Salvador

The Nursing profession is a dynamic and active field characterized by the development of human skills and competencies. For this reason, simulation laboratory practice is an essential component of the teaching-learning process, as it seeks to support students’ cognitive and operational development, transforming it into meaningful learning that will be reflected in their performance within real-life clinical settings.
The descriptive study included a sample of 147 participants, all affiliated with the Catholic University of El Salvador. The study population was distributed as follows: 61 students from the Multidisciplinary Faculty of Ilobasco, located in the department of Cabañas, and 86 students from the campus located in the department of Santa Ana. Closed-ended multiple-choice questionnaires and observation guides were used to collect the information.
The findings revealed that 83% of the participants were satisfied with these simulation practices. Additionally, the study describes the learning environments and instructional resources used. The classrooms where simulation activities are conducted were rated as good; however, there is still room for improvement.
