The current context of higher education training requires evidence of students’ learning achievement. In this situation, there are different factors involved in students’ academic performance, ranging from psychological to social aspects. This becomes one of the main concerns for teachers who deliver courses.
However, there are not only psychological aspects that influence academic performance, but also social factors that play a role in this issue. In this regard, factors such as a person’s sex, expectations of personal fulfillment, aptitude, and motivation can be mentioned; all of which are associated with academic performance.
It was found that for 44.9% of students, academic workload is considered one of the main stress factors. Likewise, 45.1% reported that it causes anxiety; 25% stated it generates migraines; and 19% reported irritability, which may trigger other health problems.
Similarly, the findings show the influence of factors such as domestic violence, the need to improve study habits, learning more study techniques, and reducing the use of electronic devices to improve academic performance.
