The study focused on chronic non-communicable diseases, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus in order to identify their pathophysiological causes, including unhealthy lifestyles—specifically diet and exercise—as well as exposure to stress, tobacco and alcohol consumption, and genetic factors that create a predisposition to these diseases among young people. It also sought to understand the practice of healthy and preventive measures related to conditions that can be corrected in time, provided that students are more aware of healthy practices, based on the knowledge they acquire through their field of study related to health and their preparation for the future work environment.
The qualitative-descriptive research included a study population of 368 students between 18 and 35 years old, belonging to three Nursing training institutions in the municipality of Santa Ana.
