The research analyzed the perception of emotional well-being and interpersonal relationships, both dimensions related to quality of life, which promote the school and social inclusion of deaf people who use Argentine Sign Language. The school was chosen for the study because it is the primary place for social participation during childhood and adolescence, and the environment where the participants meet and interact with their peers.
This work was based on an anthropological and bilingual education model that fosters the development of emotional well-being by encouraging the establishment of positive interpersonal relationships. Two scales were administered: one for self-esteem and another for evaluating social skills, using sign language for their implementation. Regarding the proposed objective, the responses obtained from the self-esteem scale showed that most participants seemed to perceive themselves with positive self-esteem because they felt satisfied with themselves, feeling useful and worthy. In turn, the evaluated behaviors allowed us to infer that the subjects have achieved interpersonal communication with others, establishing friendships or peer relationships, although they appear to have difficulties with problem-solving skills. Regarding social skills, deaf individuals who are not oral face the obstacle that most people in their daily environments do not know or have not developed Argentine Sign Language.
