Abstract

Several factors can make an information technology project difficult to complete successfully. A study by The Standish Group's CHAOS report 2015 identifies ten causes, including a lack of: senior management sponsorship, emotional maturity, user involvement during project execution, clearly defined requirements, optimization, experienced technical personnel, standard architecture, agile processes, modest execution, project management expertise, and clear business objectives.

Project management is a critical need in any organization. It helps to clarify a project's rationale, objectives, scope, deliverables, benefits, profitability, and more. Project management ensures that projects are executed in an orderly, cost-effective, timely, and high-quality manner.
