Abstract

To conduct research, one must rely on data collection techniques and instruments to facilitate an understanding of the phenomenon under study. However, due to the diversity of information available, it is difficult to specify with certainty the type of techniques and instruments to use.

While each technique and instrument is not limited to, nor has it been strictly designed for, a specific area, this is a factor that must be taken seriously, as it allows the researcher to approach the subject within a scientific context. For example, if an interview is conducted, it can be structured or unstructured. A structured interview is prepared with closed questions, which focus on eliciting precise answers from the interviewee without elaborating. On the other hand, an unstructured interview is more informal, as there is no rigid format, and it unfolds as the conversation with the interviewee progresses.
