IMPACT OF FAMILY STRUCTURE ON THE BEHAVIOR OF ADOLESCENTS STUDYING IN CATHOLIC SCHOOLS OF THE DIOCESE OF SANTA ANA

Abstract

This article reveals the results of research conducted in fifteen of the thirty Catholic schools in the Diocese of Santa Ana. The study aimed to establish the predominant family structure among students and analyze its potential effects on the behavior of adolescents in grades six through nine. The methodology involved administering questionnaires to students and their teachers in each grade. The results show a high percentage of nuclear and single-parent families, very few extended families, and some cases of minors living with relatives other than their parents. Regardless of their family structure, the adolescents fit the general description of students at this stage of life and generally possess positive attitudes and feelings.
