OWNERSHIP AND USE OF COMPUTER EQUIPMENT BY UNDERGRADUATE AND ENGINEERING STUDENTS OF THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF EL SALVADOR, ILOBASCO REGIONAL CENTER

In accordance with statistics of the Ministry of Education in the Republic of El Salvador in the year 2011, at institutions of Superior Education, there is a computer per each 10.92 students, but students are not included in the statistics if they possess their own computer and if they use it within the institution. In this article it is showed, based on data collected from B.A. and Engineering students at Regional Center of Ilobasco, the existence of computer equipment such as desktops, laptops; as well as the use of portable and mobile equipment in the institution and statistics varied by majors and swifts. It was discovered that 84% of students at Regional Center of Ilobasco do possess any kinds of computer equipment, being laptops the top in preference with 59% of users; 32% of the computers aforementioned are used inside the institution. This data do really make the difference since the percentages of computers per each student at (SEI) might increase if statistics of all universities of El Salvador were taken into consideration.
